ok, so I'm in the middle of this long ground mission wishing I could just blast it from space and move on.

Experimenting with different types of ships... Deep Space Science Vessel: USS Glorious Dawn!

Lotsa speed and manueverability with a lot of Science and Eng ability. The profile reminds me of some of the sailing ships exploring across unkown seas.

What's killing me is that ship reminds me of something I've seen somewhere else in science fiction, but I can't place it... I think some kind of book cover, but argh!

Stainless steel rat... any of the "Lazarus Long" books by Heinlein... Something from the Childe Cycle series or something else by Gordon R. Dickson... bah!@

I've been tinkering with the Klingon Side a bit. Rankin was saying it's more about PVP to level-up.

Wow, no joke with that PVP leveling. I especially loved the quest that dealt with "Get killed by another player captain" (25 times!)

"To Sto-Vo-Kor!"

The USS Glorious Dawn looks like a giant dust buster.

Also, there's a fairly big patch coming up next week, you can read the patch notes here.

At least I'm not flying a USS Flatworm!

I'm looking forward to the respec skills ability. I"m happy it made it into this patch.

Have you noticed problems (or maybe a designed limit) with purchasing more ships? I tried to get into a Fleet Escort and don't get the purchase option on any more ship requisitions.

Aside from the runabout, I haven't really bothered looking at purchasing other ships.

Here's a pick of USS OUTBACK... trying to sneak past the Baby Entity to refuel at the Filet-Steamed-Veggies Station! Although was regrettably destroyed shortly afterwards by an elusive race known as My7yrOldSon.

And while there's nothing like wowhead yet for STO, there's a couple wikis that you can check for some helpful information:

STO Wiki

STO-Intel

There's an event happening this weekend on their version of the PTR. If you log in for at least an hour, you'll be eligible to receive a couple rewards. First, and I kid you not, is an assimilated Tribble that grants bonuses against the Borg. The second is a special title for your captain.

I was at the store earlier and I was > < that close to buying STO.

I had to talk myself away from it by repeating that I still had Dragon Age, ME2, and FF13 to play.

Well I canceled my STO account. The problem is that when you hit the level cap, there's really not a whole lot to do. The crafting system is pretty much nonexistant, and there's a whole two daily quests to do. Then there's only two 'instances' outside of the fleet action stuff and both of those are at the level cap.

The game's fun enough at the start, but it loses steam pretty quickly. Maybe they'll fix it in the coming months and it'll be worth coming back to then.

Looks like they're shuffling around the management:

http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/06/star- ... s-cryptic/

It is a real shame though that the game was a flop. The space combat portion by itself would be an outstanding game. Too bad the rest of it was all shoddy and rushed. :(
